Daisetsuzan Sounkyo / Kurodake Ropeway Lift
A walk in the air for about 7 minutes to the 5th station of Mt. Kurodake in the Daisetsuzan system. Another 15 minutes by lift, feeling the wind to the 7th station
The Daisetsuzan Sounkyo Kurodake Ropeway Lift is a ropeway and lift that connects to the 7th station of Mt. Kurodake at an altitude of 1,984 meters. It is a spectacular spot where you can enjoy the magnificent nature of Daisetsuzan throughout the four seasons.
In spring, as the snow melts, alpine plants such as Chinguruma begin to appear, creating a contrast between the white of the remaining snow and the fresh greenery that has begun to sprout. In summer, alpine plants are in full bloom, and on the way from the 7th station to the summit, a flower garden suitable for the “garden of the gods plays” spreads out. Autumn is known as the earliest autumn foliage spot in Japan, and the red of rowan and the yellow of the maple dye the mountain surface. From the windows of the ropeway, you can see a carpet of colors that look like paintings below. In winter, fans from all over the world come to visit for the finest powder snow. You can enjoy skiing and snowshoeing in the fantastic scenery created by tree ice and frost.
No matter what season you visit, the impressive scenery that can only be seen here awaits you.

- Mt. Kurodake is a mountain that can be climbed relatively easily. As long as the equipment is solid, even beginners are fine. It takes about 1 hour and a half ~ 2 hours from the 7th station mountaineering office to the summit of Mt. Kurodake. Why don't you try mountain climbing while enjoying the scenery and flowers? After climbing, we took our time at Sounkyo Onsen at the foot of the mountain.
