The Hokujin Memorial Hall is a museum that systematically introduces the history of Hokkaido’s development and national defense, from the Tunta soldiers to the modern Army and Self-Defense Forces. Focusing on the historical materials of the former 7th Division (commonly known as the “Hokujin Division”) located in Asahikawa, primary materials such as military equipment, equipment, maps, photographs, and memoirs are enriched, and you can learn specifically about the history of Hokkaido, which overlapped with pioneering and homeland defense. Exhibits on the formation of divisions and the changes in equipment, the Russo-Japanese War, and the dispatch of troops to Siberia are valuable contents that connect regional history with modern and contemporary Japan’s history. Through models, panels, and videos, you can also experience the life and training of the time, making it ideal for history fans as well as students to learn.
