Tuozhen Museum
Museum of Photography on the Hill. Encountering through the eyes of Shinzo Maeda, the four seasons and light of Biei "Takumakan"
Takushinkan is a gallery that exhibits mainly the works of photographer Shinzo Maeda, who made Biei Hills known to the world. The wooden building that utilizes a former elementary school building is lined up with representative works that capture the light and shadow of the hills of the four seasons, lavender, wheat fields, and snowfields. When you stand in front of the work, the gentle curves, the texture of the fields, and even the colors of the changing sky appear, and you can experience the poetry and tranquility of Biei’s landscape.
There is a photo book and postcard shop in the hotel, and there is a garden and walking path with seasonal flowers blooming in the surrounding area, so you can enjoy it with the feeling of a small trip. As a base for hill tours, it is also ideal for sightseeing in combination with the nearby Panorama Road and popular Ippoki spots.
