A scenic spot representing Asahikawa with stunning scenery during the autumn foliage season
It means “Kamui (god) Kotan (place to live)” in the Ainu language, and in 1997 (Heisei 9), it was counted as one of the “Eight Views of Asahikawa”, which selected the representative scenery of Asahikawa. In early to mid-October, rowan, mizuna, maple, etc. are brightly colored. In addition, along the rapids of the Ishikari River that flows through the Kami Kotan area, there are rough rocks and strange rocks for about 10 km. It is a famous spot that is widely popular with citizens as well as during the autumn foliage season.
