3rd and 6th Streets
A red-light district that symbolizes the night in Asahikawa. A variety of bars and neon lights gather in the "3rd and 6th streets"
“3.6 Street” in the center of Asahikawa, in the 6-chome area of 3-jo-dori, is the second largest entertainment district in Hokkaido, second only to Sapporo and Susukino. The name is also said to be a double meaning of “around 3-jo 6-chome” and “at the foot of Daisetsuzan Mountain”, and there are about 1,000 restaurants in the alleys, including izakayas, bars, pubs, snacks, clubs, karaoke, and famous ramen and soba restaurants. All of the stores are unpretentious and safe to use, and the ladder sake is fun.
Asahikawa is a logistics base in central Hokkaido. Fresh seafood from the three seas of Okhotsk, the Sea of Japan, and the Pacific Ocean gather, and in Sanroku Town, you can fully enjoy seafood from sashimi to sushi and robatayaki. In addition, there are a variety of brands of local sake nurtured in the “underground water of the Daisetsuzan Mountains”, such as Otoyama, Takasago, and Kyodo Sake, and the Japan sake culture known as the “North Nada” is still alive and well. The level of bartenders is one of the best in Japan, and it is also a “cocktail town” where you can find cocktails with a high degree of perfection, from classic to creative.
It is a few minutes’ walk from the hotel in the center of the city, and the prices are generally reasonable. If you are a first→-timer, you can have a night of “Sanroku-ryu” with two glasses of local sake→ → a famous bar with two glasses of seafood and ramen. Whether you are touristing or doing business, this is a must-visit area where you can encounter the deliciousness and humanity of Asahikawa at night.
